President's Message
Welcome
to the Pakistan Football Federation. We are looking forward to another enjoyable
season of football in every nook of Pakistan in 2008.
I feel proud to be President of one of the 208 nations affiliated with FIFA.
Football is an exhilarating game, symbolizing strength, skill, fair play and
sportsmanship. It does not need monstrous resources to manage, but still the
game has not been able to get its stature which it would have achieved in a
particular environment of the countries in South Asia.
We have
made a number of structural changes to the operation of the PFF that I believe
will significantly improve our ability to provide for our players, referees,
administrators and coaching staff.
In 2004, we have
devised a new structure for National Soccer on advise of FIFA and
AFC, introducing A and
B Leagues - Pakistan Premier League (PPL) and PFF League. In 2006, National Club
Championship, introduced at Lahore, is C-Division event of PFF. The Leagues
since 2004 are producing talented soccerites in the country and our step tuned
to perfection when Pakistan won the gold in 10th South Asian Games
2006 and put up commendable display against East Asian teams in 15th
Asian Games at Doha. The year 2007 brought us double-victory over Singapore in
Beijing Olympics Qualifier while history was created on 28 October 2007 when we
held Asian Champion Iraq 0-0 at neutral territory of Damascus,
and it was first time that we managed to block Asian Giants from scoring a
single goal.
We have
also introduced a concrete coaching and referees structure and are on brink of
introducing National School Championship. On behalf of the PFF Congress, I would
like to wish all the players, referees, coaches, their families and our
supporters all the best for the season and encourage you all to be involved in
our PFF’s activities.
FIFA praised our commitment and dedication with football when we launched
National Women Championships at Islamabad’s Jinnah Stadium on 23 September 2005.
It met great success and we organized two more editions in 2006 and 2007 at same
venue.
For
some of you, this will be the first time your children participate in a sport.
We hope that this is the beginning of many years of fun and excitement for you.
Whether you are 6 years old or above 40 years old, we aim to have a team for you
to play in.
We are
going for soccer promotion and if you are someone who is willing to lend a hand
and has love for football I would be interested to hear good suggestions from
you.
If you have any
enquiries at all, please visit us at Lahore’s FIFA Football House or contact
website
www.pff.com.pk or
ask PFF General Secretary or concerned Director on Telephones 0092-42-9230821-22
and Fax No. 0092-42-9230823 who will endeavor to answer your question. We are
available at the PFF to help any one seeking future in soccer.
